Course Curriculum:

Sponsored and Approved by the North Texas Safety Council, the Spiromerty and Pulmonary Function Testing (PFT) certification course of completion is taught by a certified trainer. This course is not sponsored by NIOSH however, the exact curriculum training program recommended by NIOSH is followed over a two day period.

  • Participants in this course learn spirometry techniques that are approved by the North Texas Safety Council, Division of Healthcare Training.
  • Participants will learn applicable OSHA standards, and Dr. Raker’s recommendations while using the NIOSH federal guidelines.
  • Participants will learn basic pulmonary anatomy and physiology, FVC, FEV1 and FEV1/FVC calculations. The course is specific for spirometry testing equipment.

Curriculum in this course is approved by the North Texas Safety Council, Division of Healthcare Training.

  • Participants in this course become familiar with all aspects of OSHA Hearing Conservation Program, including noise measurement and control, anatomy and physiology of the auditory system, hearing protection and employee personal protection equipment.
  • OSHA standards, worker’s compensation and other state and federal regulations are discussed in relation to hearing loss.
  • Students participate in hands-on manual hearing testing from experienced instructors.
